This powerfully precise weapon gets a new beam and grommet system for 2026

Introducing the VCORE 98+ 8th Gen! Defined by its extended length and 98 square inch head, this racquet gives experienced players a dangerous combination of power and precision. The power comes partly from its 27.5" length, which translates into heavier balls from the baseline and impressive pop on serves. The 98+ also packs a beefier swingweight than its standard length counterparts, making it more challenging to swing but giving it a more stable feel against big hitters. Factor in the sub-64RA stiffness and forgiving ISOMETRIC head shape, and you get a very plush and arm-friendly ride. For 2026, Yonex redesigns the beam, giving it a faster, more aerodynamic shape while also thickening it in key locations for added stability and power. Additional 2026 updates include widening the grommet holes for increased string movement and greater snapback, as well as lengthening the inner trench at the tip for added flex and pocketing. As with the previous generation, this racquet integrates a thin, elastic film (Servo Filter) within the layers of 2 NAMD FlexForce Graphite, allowing the racquet to flex optimally while also absorbing unwanted vibrations. Ultimately, with incremental changes to the beam and response, the VCORE 98+ continues to be a very solid option for aggressive players looking to turn up the heat.

I played only twice with itAn absolutely beautiful racquet. Plays very well when you hit the sweet spot. As a OHBH player, Gd help you if you miss the sweet spot. I developed an outer wrist pain within 20 minutes of play. I restrung it with a much friendlier multi at 48 lb, and still got wrist pain within 15 minutes of play. I ended up selling the racquet. It is a good racquet for a much higher level player (you have to hit the sweet spot every time or this racquet is not for you)

more of a note on stringsI like the racquet a lot, and worth a demo. I have used the 100D Vcore as well, which gives more control. So this isn't really a review but more of a note on strings for the 98. So with poly tour pro, synthetic gut, or a lower launch poly you will flatter shots. But then I tried solinco Mach 10, and whoa. the launch angle really went up. That can be a pro or con depending on how you play. I'm going to have to hybrid it to lower it most likely. For singles I can adjust to the mach 10, but for doubles it was too much. I'm going to try to find a balance or maybe have one racquet for doubles and one for singles with a different string set up.
